This year my family went down to Glorieta NM for a family camp were we all had a lot of fun.
(Below taken from renewing the family camp webpage.)Reformation Church is excited to announce its 4th year for having the ‘Renewing the Family’ camp. Imagine families together in the Lord! Families in the Bible, worshiping together, believing together, growing together, working together, serving God’s people together, joining the church together, and being saved from God’s judgment together. Families are meant to grow together in Christ, and thereby form generational strength for the Kingdom of Christ. In a world where family solidarity is rare, where families are coming apart by the millions, we want to renew a vision for re-establishing family life according to the principles God has laid out in his Word. Families are re-discovering the blessings of covenant life and unity, as families and as part of a larger body. This unique family camp will give your family a chance to re-focus, re-integrate, and revitalize. For the 4th year in a row, we have secured one of the largest, most elaborate Christian campgrounds in the country. You will enjoy a glorious section of 2200 acres of God’s creation in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range at Glorieta, New Mexico. To make this camp available to the widest range of Christian families, we have found a way to create a wide variety of prices for the camp, depending on what a family can afford for room and board. The camp is priced such that any family can attend.
Family Group Discussions
We are scheduling two sessions each day, one of these sessions will be replaced by family olympics, giving your family plenty of time for rest, relaxation, recreation, and fellowship with other like-minded, believers. These discussions are for the entire family and will include singing, Bible reading, and prayer, in addition to inspiring messages from Kevin Swanson, Scott Brown, and Gary Demar. Everyone is expected to participate in these. Family SingingWe are a singing group and love to sing to the Lord. Last year, we were blessed with special singing from Nathan Clark George. Nathan will be back with us this year. If you would like to hear his music from last year, follow this link. Once again we are asking families if they would like to sing, do a skit, etc. during the general sessions. If you would like to, please make note of that on the registration form or email us at campinfo@renewingthefamily.com.
Recreation
Free recreation activities include hiking (1, 2, 5, 11 mile hikes), Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Miniature Golf, Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, Frisbee Golf, Tennis, Ping Pong, Badminton and Croquette. The recreation facilities are beautiful, well-manicured fields and courts. Also available free of charge include paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, catch and release fishing in Glorieta’s gorgeous lake. All of these activities are easily accessible to all resort guests. We will be organizing some Volleyball and Softball teams to play each other.
Fee-Based Recreation
The Glorieta facilities have recently added exciting new adventure recreation for the 2005 season. These includes Paint ball, High Ropes Course, and Zip Line. Paint ball and High Ropes Course are available for adults and children 10 years and older. We will require that at least one parent accompany their children in these events. The High Ropes Course takes about 1.5 hours, and the Paint Ball is 1 hour. All equipment, including paint ball rounds will be provided by the resort.
